World steel production has increased significantly since year 2000. At the same time, continuous casting share has increased to over 90% of the produced steel. Tundish plays a very important role in controlling the cast steel quality in the continuous casting process. This paper describes the advances in tundish technology for cast steel quality improvements in continuous casting process. Melt flow control, melt temperature control, large tundish size, calcium addition in ladle and tundish, and hot tundish recycling are some of the technologies which have proven beneficial for quality improvements.
