STERN LANDING VESSELS

Traditional Landing Craft (LC) designs were based on ease of build, bluff shallow bow for beach landing and the geometry of a conventional house brick. As such, they have proved to be ineffective for anything other than sheltered waters. Sea Transport Solutions had been developing a Stern Landing Craft which has eliminated all the disadvantages of the traditional Landing Craft (LVH and LCU naval craft) This paper will present a vessel design which is handling larger payloads with a greater speed in head seas, capable of float-on float off cargoes, and yet still capable of landing on unprepared beaches. "Already 17 are in service and many more are being considered by various countrie".
