How DSS Development Procedure and Components Can Answer the Requirements of Knowledge Management Development

As knowledge is the most valuable asset for nowadays organizations, an exact and distinct knowledge management policy can lead to competitive advantages for organizations. A decision support system (DSS) is a computer based information system for assisting decision makers in range of situations (structured, unstructured). In addition to this known function, DSS naturally can cover all aspects and procedures of knowledge management cycle. Components of a DSS store, share and reuse organizational knowledge. Besides to these abilities, life cycle of a DSS can create knowledge and enrich the cycle of knowledge management. This paper describes the concept of knowledge, knowledge management and DSS. Then shows how a DSS can support different processes of knowledge management.
