New Requirements for the Forming Process of SAW Pipes

With reference to the requirements for modern pipelines, such as larger pipe lengths to be manufactured and higher operating pressures, steels with an ever increasing strength are applied. Another major point of focus is the possible reduction of costs due to smaller wall thickness and the thus achieved reduction of material, reduced transport costs and reduced quantity of welding material necessary. A first overview of the development of the material quality can be seen in the following graph.
