The effect of graphite on impact sensitivity of strong flash pyrotechnics composite is studied. The reasons that cause high impact sensitivity of the pyrotechnics composite are analyzed. The approach of reducing impact sensitivity is presented. The results show the high impact sensitivity of pyrotechnics is mostly caused by edge effect of the granules. Ultrafine graphite has lubricating property and can quench hotspot when it is added into pyrotechnics composite. Impact sensitivity is reduced and its reducing degree is increased with the use addition of ultrafine graphite. So overloading ability of pyrotechnics is greatly increased by adding ultrafine graphite into the strong flash pyrotechnics composite. The theoretic analysis is consistent with the experimental results.
