Lean Six Sigma is a data-driven methodology for solving business process problems in a structured manner using a team approach. General Dynamics Electric Boat (GDEB) has been using Lean Six Sigma as a framework for managing its energy management strategy since 2004, and has realized more than $1 Million in measurable, net hard savings in that time period. This paper describes the development of GDEB's energy management strategy using Lean Six Sigma and presents a case study in the use of this approach to reduce energy usage.
