In this paper, we present a low complexity iterative receiver for packet data transmission over time-varying frequency-selective fading channels. In the receiver, the minimum mean square error (MMSE) filter based equalizer and channel decoding are jointly optimized in an iterative process. Also, linear channel estimation is performed iteratively using a soft input recursive least squares algorithm with modified cost function. Simulation results for time-invariant and for both MAP and SOVA decoding are also presented.
