摘要

Indigenous bacterial mediation of As in two contaminated sediments (Hwachon and Myoungbong) after biostimulation with a variety of carbon sources was investigated under aerobic and anaerobic conditions. Under aerobic condition, indigenous bacteria increased the amount of total As extracted from the sediments. Under anaerobic condition, dissolved total As concentration dramatically increased in microbial slurries over time in Hwachon sediment. The As leaching from the sediment was likely caused by microbially reductive dissolution of Fe oxyhydroxides onto which As had been adsorbed. However, in the case of anaerobic glucosesupplied Myoungbong sediment, dissolved As diminished over time possibly due to bacterial reduction of SO<,4><'2> and production of As sulfide (s) and subsequent precipitation.
