The current "Code for design of steel structures" adopts that the overall stability coefficient Φb of welded I-shaped and hot-rolled H-shaped steel simply supported beam can be calculated using formula (B.1-1) in appendix B of Code GB50017-2003,but the coefficient Φb of hot-rolled I-shaped steel can be referred in table B.2. Using this method is inconvenient to program. And after merging, the Φb of the table B.2 are general. They have certain errors and their application scopes are narrow. On the foundation of the formula offered by the code and through calculation, making up the data, numeric analysis, this article put forward a uniform formula to calculate the Φh of welded I-shaped, hot-rolled I-shaped and hot-rolled H-shaped steel simply supported beam.
