The recent advances in developing the full two-fluid model of coal combustion, including its experimental validation and the studies on the effect of various factors, such as swirl, inlet blocking, coal concentration, gas reburning and particle temperature fluctuation, on NO formation in coal combustion, are reported. Also, the recent advances in developing the second-order moment combustion model for large-eddy simulation of non-premixed swirling and jet combustion and bluff-body stabilized premixed combustion, including its experimental verification and comparison with other combustion models, are reviewed.
