Preparation and evaluation of flurbiprofen patch

Objective: To prepare and evaluate of flurbiprofen patch. Methods: The flurbiprofen patch was prepared with polyisobutylene as pressure sensitive adhesive. The RP-HPLC method was applied to determine flurbiprofen content. The in vitro release characteristics, cohesive force and adhesive force were studied according to reporting methods in literature. 87 patients with different pain were selected to evaluate the effect of flurbiprofen patch. Results: The average content of flurbiprofen patch was 0.487mg/cm2 (RSD 7.34%), the release mechanisms of flurbiprofen patch in vitro coincided with first equation ln (1-Mt/M∞)=0.171-0.105t (r=0.999); 68 patients were effective with total effective rate 78.2%, especially more effective to knee joint pain. Conclusion: Flurbiprofen patch provides an effective therapeutic selection for the pain clinic.
