Coupled water and chloride transport in two historical-masonry materials is investigated in the conditions of one-sided sodium-chloride-in-water solution uptake. In the experimental work, determination of moisture and chloride concentration profiles is done. Moisture content is measured on gravimetric principle, chloride concentration using the pH/ION 340i device with utilization of ion selective electrode (ISE). Experimentally determined NaCl concentration profiles and moisture profiles are employed for identification of chloride diffusion coefficient and moisture diffusivity on the basis of inverse analysis using Fick's diffusion model, diffusion model including the dependence of salt diffusion coefficient on salt concentration and diffusion-advection model.
