Protection of Plywood Plywood Products from Attack by Wood Destroying Insect Pests

This paper provides information on the biology of the two major wood destroying insect pests that are known to attack plywood and plywood products in service, viz. termites (subterranean and drywood) and lyctine beetles (powder post borers). The main treatment methods used to protect plywood and plywood products from attack by these wood destroying insects are outlined. Current research activities on the preservation of plywood and plywood products being conducted by Ensis in Australia are also given, with particular emphasis on the glueline treatment of plywood cargo containers flooring.
