摘要

The east anchorage of E-Gong-Yan Suspension Bridge in Chongqing City is a tunnel style anchorage and located in soft rock masses. In the paper a model test of anchorage structure scaled 1:12.5 in field is described. Firstly, the instrumentation layout, observation procedure and the main results of the test are introduced. Then the engineering significance of the measurements obtained from the test is explained and the safety factor of the global stability for the anchorage structures together with the surrounding rock masses is analyzed by using dynamic programming technique and 3D elasto-plastic finite element computation. It is shown from having monitored of displacements since the bridge was opened to traffic in 1999 that the tunnel anchorage is in a good condition. The model test has played an important role for the success of the design and construction of the bridge.
