Preparation and Characterization of Porous LiAl_5O_8 Coated by SnO_2

Li_2O and Al_2O_3 powder were used with 1:9 by mole. Powder was mixed in the water, dried and pressed to shape 10 mm. diameter disk specimens. The specimens were sintered in temperature of 1300 deg c, 1400 deg c and 1550 deg c respectively. The specimens of sintered in 1550 deg c were shown homogeneity pore size distribution. The sintered 1550 deg c specimens were selected as substrate for SnO_2 coating. Tin powder was filled in the alumina crucible and the porous LiAl_5O_8 was set above tin powder. Temperature, 700 deg c, 800 deg c, 900 deg c, 950 deg c and 1000 deg c used for SnO_2 coated on porous LiAl_5O_8 substrate. SnO_2 nanowire found in the 950 deg c coating temperature which the result consistent with x-ray diffraction result of SnO_2 which shown highest of other sintered temperature. Electrical conductivity was measured and found that electrical conductivity of 700 deg c, 800 deg c, 900 deg c and 1000 deg c coating temperature shown not significant difference but 950 deg c shown significant higher conductivity than other specimens.
