This presentation will discuss the following: (1) Material types used for resistance to concentrated acids and other strong chemicals, including Epoxy novolac, Potassium silicate, Furane, Polyurethane and Vinyl ester. (3) Systems available for concrete protection Coatings, Monolithic toppings, Polymer concretes, Acid resistant brick and tile (4) Includes discussion of membranes and movement joints. (5) Factors to consider when specifying for extreme chemical conditions: Concentrations of chemicals, Temperature, Exposure - continuous or intermittent, Physical stresses - traffic, abrasion, imposed loads, impact, Substrate - age, condition, Site conditions - temperature extremes, Available curing time, Special requirements - e.g. slip resistance. (6) Case Studies.
