Impedance measurements of an encapsulated Semiconductor Optical Amplifier (SOA) were used to obtain the SOA equivalent circuit parameters. The effect of decreasing the packaging inductances and stray capacitances are then analyzed aiming the SOA enhancement as a highspeed electro-optical switch.
