PLANAR EQUIVALENCE -- AN UPDATE

We review the recent developments in the area of planar equivalence for orientifoldfield theories. The most interesting regime of QCD is the strong coupling (non-perturbative) regime. In particular, chiral symmetry breaking and confinement are non-perturbative phenomena. Despite of the importance of the problem, no analytical methods of calculations at strong coupling exist.
