Real-time streaming of media over wireless networks is a challenging proposition. In this paper, a set of cross-layer techniques for adaptive video streaming over wireless networks is proposed. The adaptation done with respect to both channel and data, determines the video signal characteristics and its service class constraining the maximum end-to-end delay. A sort of cross-layer unequal error protection EC scheme depending on the importance of each frame by exploiting Video coding process is also performed. EC codes are applied within an application packet at the R packet level and thus reduces delay at the receiver.
