This paper describes the results of an experimental and numerical investigation of scouring under a pipe due to currents. Two kinds of experiments were carried out. (1) The experiments which are related to the scour process below single and multiple pipelines and main effective parameters on it. (2) The experiments include investigation of adding a spoiler to the crest of pipe section to increase self-burial potential of the pipelines. In the next section a mathematical model based on potential-flow theory was introduced for simulating the equilibrium scour hole formed by unidirectional flow underneath offshore pipelines. The model employs a finite-volume method to solve Laplace equation in terms of velocity potential in a Cartesian coordinate system. In this research, the influence of major parameters on scour caused by current has been investigated.
