Introducing BDIFS, a new approach in business-to-business data integration and collaboration for the SME

This paper presents a Business Data Integration Framework for Small to Medium Enterprises (BD1FS) (SME). The framework is designed to bring business-to-business data transfer within reach of the enterprise with few resources. JXTA Peer-to-Peer messaging is applied to address the problem of integrating and sharing business-to-business information. The managed deployment of JXTA technology ensures that the implementation abides by a common set of rules. This deployment is centralised by the use of a web server to generate Peers and Peer Groups for sharing business-related information. The system handles the upload and translation of data from one system to the other through data exchange standards and community collaboration. BDIFS is based around open source principles and the sharing of integration code. It is the aim of BDIFS to provide an obtainable mechanism for solving the issues associated with E-Business data for SMEs, and to illustrate a different way at looking at them.
