Advances in Roll Quality Information Integration for Paper Savings Opportunities

Mill operating cost is affected by the quality of shipped rolls versus customer specifications. Returns, rejects and overproduction increase cost. Recent investigation reveals traditional methods of reporting roll quality does not accurately represent specific quality of ordered/shipped rolls. These traditional methods also prevent statistical quality comparison across machines and mills in an enterprise for best practice migration. This paper discusses the barriers, inaccuracies, and solutions to improved roll quality for paper savings opportunities.
