Capacity Increase in the Continuous Mandrel Mill in V M Brazil

This paper presents an overall view of the investment done by V&M of Brazil to increase over 50% the capacity of its continuous mandrel mill for tubes ≤ 7". After a description of Barreiro plant, the main objects of the investment are discussed in terms of concept, technology, time to start up, implementation strategy, NDT inspection. Shortly, V&M do Brazil reached over 300,000 ton/year of high quality seamless pipes from 1 to 7" OD. The success of the investment is described through the presentation of main performance indicators.
