We perform a GIS-based land-use suitability analysis aiming to identify appropriate locations for implementing natural systems for the wastewater treatment in the Rodopi Prefecture-Northeast Greece. The analysis, implemented in a Spatial Decision Support System that combines GIS and the fuzzy extension of the Analytic Hierarchy Process (FAHP), is carried out in three steps. First, threshold values for the criterion maps are decided and the mask of the candidate locations for the final analysis is constructed. Second, the decision criteria are selected and FAHP is used in order to derive weights of preference among them. Finally, the criterion maps are weighted and standardized in order to calculate the overall suitability index for the final classification.
