To prevent leakage from low-pressure bell joints, Toho Gas has developed and adopted a Live Joint Seal method filling joints with resin from within. On the other hand, to counter leakage from medium-pressure (0.1 – 1 Mpa) joints and leakage due to earthquakes, Toho Gas has adopted the Phoenix Rehabilitation Repair method lining a tube to the inside of a pipeline. However, the Phoenix method is limited in application (up to 4 pieces of 90° elbows in a pipeline system). Furthermore, unless both ends of the pipeline have been cut, this method could not be applied if digging is difficult even at one end of the object pipeline. To solve these problems, Toho Gas is working on the development of a new method lining a tube by cutting only one end of the object pipeline. This method allows for terminal processing to ensure internal scraping, dust suction and tube lining and air-tightness. 1
