The tribological properties of textured surfaces were studied using a flat-on-flat reciprocating tribometer to understand the effect of surface texturing on frictional properties of the surface. The textured surface consists micro pillar with different pillar length and reciprocating friction experiments were performed under dry lubricating condition. The frictional force for different pillar length with a constant normal load showed that the maximum friction force did not vary with pillar length. However, the energy dissipated through friction was decreased with increasing pillar length.
