Grid is an integrated environment of resources and computing, which can be applied to support the phase of System Modeling (D-Time) and the phase of Simulation Running (Run-Time) in the collaborative modeling and simulation process of complex systems to realize the secure share and reuse, collaborative interaction, optimizing schedule of all kinds of resources. In the phase of Simulation Running, HLA/RTI and Grid can be integrated to connect and share the simulation system models. According to the different characteristics, real-time level and resource sharing requirements of simulation systems, three kinds of application modes for connecting HLA/RTI simulation systems are described in this paper, that is, Grid-based Simulation Control and Information Publication, Grid Services/Web Services Based Connection of Simulation Systems and Grid-based Federation Models Sharing and Dynamic Assembly. The applicability and realization approach of each application mode is also introduced in detail.
