Direct Numerical Simulation (DNS) is performed of lean premixed CH_4-air and H_2-CH_4-air flames to understand how H_2 addition can affect flame stability and pollutant formation. The results are analyzed from a global and a flame surface perspective. A greater rate of heat release is found in the enriched flame, which is explained by a difference in flame areas and influences of turbulent stretch on the local burning rates. It is found that there may be a pollutant trade off between NO and CO emissions when using H_2 enriched fuels.
