Reducing the Learning Curve Through the Use of an Advanced Drilling Simulator

This paper describes how the use of a full size,real time, drilling simulator is proving to significantly reduce the learning curve for drilling operations. Traditionally simulators have been used for well control training,or the training of crews to operate new generation automated drilling equipment.Modern drilling simulators are, however,also now being exploited by performance oriented teams to practice techniques and procedures in a risk free,low cost environment.
