Fire side corrosion (FSC) has been an ongoing problem in the boiler furnaces at the Northern Power Station in South Australia. Various investigations have occurred on the causes and potential solutions. Good success has been achieved using the thermal arc metal spray process with high Cr consumables to protect the surfaces. Details of the situations, processes used and end value are noted.
