CONTROL SYSTEMS IN THE BLEACHING PLANT: A SUCCESSFUL CASE AT ARACRUZ CELULOSE PULP MILL

The pulp obtained with low lignin content and brightness stability is no longer enough to guarantee the companies competitiveness in a global market. The importance of the chemicals consumption has been increasing considerably in the last years, aiming at the operational efficiency and the warranty of the business sustainability. In this scenery, the controls for chemicals dosage in the bleaching plant have appeared in the cellulose mills. This article presents an experience of Aracruz Celulose, world's leading producer of bleached eucalyptus kraft pulp, using advanced process control to reduce production costs.
