HYDROTHERMAL STABILIZATION OF RESIDUES FROM MUNICIPAL SOLID WASTE INCINERATION

A new process is proposed to reduce the toxicity of municipal solid waste incinerators flue-gas cleaning residues that contain toxic species. The considered approach comprises two successive steps: ⅰ) the conversion of the residues into a stable valorizable material, which occurs under hydrothermal conditions without the addition of any chemical reagent, and ⅱ) the treatment of the solutions resulting from the first step. Only the first step is the subject of this paper. The solid residues obtained at the end of the first step comply to French standards for valorizable clinkers.
