Reylan PET is the series of new generation engineering polymers based on poly(ethylene terephthalate) (PET) waste. It is specially chemically modified during reactive processing according to a technology elaborated in Industrial Chemistry Research Institute and is reinforced with glass fiber. The technology is based on the latest achievements of world science in reactive processing and guarantees high quality of the product, which opens new possibilities and new markets. Reylan PET grades, showing high-impact strength, inherent good electrical and thermal properties, belong to engineering thermoplastics. They offer excellent melt characteristics, superior strength and stiffness, excellent dimensional stability, creep resistance, heat resistance, outstanding color stability and good surface appearance. Reylan PET offers the properties comparable, for example, with poly(terephthalate butylene) or high-impact polystyrene. The glass fiber reinforced grades properties are comparable with those of polyamide 6, polyamide 6.6 and polycarbonates. Simultaneously it is less expensive which is additional advantage. It is therefore a lower cost alternative to standard engineering plastics.
