We have developed two advanced copper alloys. One is GIGALLOY, NKT322 (Cu-3.2 percent Ti-0.2 percent Fe) and the other is HYPER CORSON, NKC388 (Cu-3.8 percent Ni-0.8 percent Si-0.15 percent Mg-0.15 percent Mn). NKT322 was named GIGALLOY, because it has extraordinary high tensile strength that exceeds one GPa while keeping good formability. Nominal TS and MBR (minimum bend radius) /1 (thickness) of NKT322 are 1.04GPa and 1.0, respectively. These superior properties were achieved by optimizing process conditions as well as alloy composition. To improve properties of a Corson alloy, contents of Ni and Si were increased and Mn was added. We named this NKC388 HYPER CORSON. The yield strength of NKC388-EH is approximately 90MPa higher than that of a conventional Corson alloy C70250 when the electrical conductivity and bend formability of the both alloys are comparable; EC is 45 percent IACS and MBR /1 is 1.0. NKT322 and NKC388 are suitable for high-grade interconnect applications that demand high reliability.
