ANALYSIS ON EFFECTS OF SOIL CONSERVATION PRACTICES ON SEDIMENT REDUCTION IN LARGE RIVER BASINS

摘要

In order to have the experience and lessons of early river management, large river basins from China and USA were selected to examine the effects of soil and water conservation to sediment reduction. Through the comparision of sediment load before and after large scale erosion control, the research result shows that sediment reduction is obvious. This research will be valuable in guidig the soil and water conservation strategy for the Yangtze River management and especially the upper part of the Three Gorges Project.
