The growth of digital technologies and computer communications leads to an increasing requirement of self-image printing. As a consequence of the fast growth of the inkjet printers market, sophisticated inkjet media must be constantly upgraded. The quality of photorealistic inkjet prints must be now closer to the one of conventional silver-halide based photographies . The increase of the water resistance of printed inkjet paper is for this purpose a key objective. This implies both improvements on the side of paper media and inks. This presentation describes the strong influence of several components used in the recording paper medium for providing an optimized water fastness.
