A Graphical User Interface for Screening Securities

Creating an intelligent system that can predict and construct profitable portfolios by analyzing both technical and fundamental data has always been a tough challenge for finance analysts as well as computer scientist. PORSEL (PORtfolio SELector) is one such intelligent system designed by our research group to make security prediction based on Graham's 10 criteria and fuzzy logic. In this work we are trying to improve the performance of PORSEL by introducing a new component: "The Stock Screener". Stock Screener is a graphical user interface that will allow users to prescreen securities before passing them to the fuzzy engine stock analyzer. Screening is done by applying numerical criteria to a broad universe of companies to narrow the universe down to a list of few stocks of high potential. Such component that adds the human intelligence to the system improved both the performance -in terms of returns- and the functionality of the system.
