NEW TECHNOLOGIES TO ENHANCE INFORMATION EXCHANGE

The increased availability of video cameras,digital cameras,and imaging software has expanded the use of this equipment during oil spills and can improve the ability of observers to relay information in an accurate and timely manner.Digital images may be shared via electronic network,electronic mail or the World Wide Web so remotely located parties can view the same information recently observed by on-scene personnel.Adobe Systems,Inc.has developed Acrobat~R software which is ideal for distributing electronic information.Acrobat software creates files which can be viewed using a freely distributed application which is easy to use and runs on many operating systems.This poster session demonstrates how digital images can better represent information obtained during spills and demonstrates methods for distributing the information.
