The complicated structure of coal and the complex character of phenomena occurring in the transport process of gases continue to be the object of both theoretical and experimental studies. Comprehensive investigations of the equilibrium sorption and sorption kinetics were carried out for different granular fractions of anthracite type of coal at ambient temperature (isothermal-isobaric conditions). The activation energy for diffusion and the heat of adsorption, calculated directly from the empirical data, are considered and compared. In addition, the difference between diffusion in the microporous coal and diffusion in crystalline zeolite are discussed. A possible explanation of this observation is suggested.
