摘要

This paper presents research findings of an ongoing project into the structural behaviour of a new type of composite bridge beam. The concept combines the high compression capacity of plain concrete with the high strength/low weight characteristics of fibre composites. The basic concept is presented together with a range of static and dynamic test results of small and full-scale beam experiments. The paper finishes with a brief description of the composite bridge design that will be constructed and commissioned in Toowoomba, Australia, in January 2002.
