In this paper, the pick up rate of sand from sandy sea bed, convection and diffusion of suspended sediment and bed load sediment are modeled based on large wave flume experiments. A new numerical model for 3-dimensional beach deformation due to multi-directional random waves is developed and applied to the sea area around an offshore man-made island. The validity of this numerical model is verified through comparison with the 1/150-scale physical model tests subject to the man-made island and the conventional numerical model by Watanabe et al. (1986).
