Prediction of electromagnetic coverage in indoor environments has become an important issue both for 2G/3G mobile systems and for WLAN systems. Deterministic algorithms based on ray optical techniques are the most suitable for this purpose since they not only ensure the received field power evaluation, but also allow related time dispersion information, useful for wide band systems. On the other hand, ray optical 3D methods are usually expensive in terms of computational complexity. Introducing new features in the well-known ray launching/ray tracing approaches, it is shown that it is possible to obtain fast and accurate field prediction in indoor environments by means of deterministic ray optical models.
