Automatic Channel Allocation in Cellular Network

When we consider the increasing demand of mobile services, the difficulty lies in frequency planning in high density cell with BS. We proposed a fully automatic channel allocation called Autonomous Adaptive Frequency Assignment (AAFA). This algorithm is designed for a GSM which does not require frequency planning but the algorithm itself automaticly updates channel allocation by using the changes in propagation environment and the traffic distribution. A channel allocation scheme can be used in a Packet Reservation Multiple Access (PRMA) transmission protocol for packet voice and low bit rate data over common channel. We have designed a simulation model to measure the performance of our algorithms in different cellular environments, including macrocellular networks, microcellular networks and picocellular networks. Our graphical results show that automatic channel algorithm provides higher system capacity than FCA system in all environments.
