This paper presents the first results of a numerical thermal manikin implemented into a Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) code whose position in the simulated space can be easily changed in successive steady-state calculations. The mobility allows for local studies of the influence of human heat release and body shape on the air flow pattern and temperature field of a space. The body of the manikin consists of 14 segments, with a simple body shape. For the study presented here constant skin temperatures were assumed. A more refined thermo-physiological model is currently developed. The manikin is a simulation tool that can be run on a standard desk top computer or notebook with reasonable computation time. Three different positions of the manikin were simulated: One with the manikin standing near the internal wall, one with the manikin in the centre of the space and one with the manikin standing near the window. For all three positions simulations for summer and winter conditions were performed, respectively. Thus, all in all 6 cases are presented. The simulations clearly show the influence of the position of the manikin on the air flow pattern and temperature field of the space, using a relatively course grid manikin.
