Agents for Semi-automatic Generation of Database Wrappers

We present two agents for construction of semiautomatic wrappers, one for employment and the other for e-commerce tasks. Instead of hand coding, an intelligent agent learns the basic concepts and communication patterns by observing a user communicating with an arbitrary database. The agent constructs a wrapper and later performs database querying on its own. The performance relies on ontologies related to basic domain concepts. In the employment domain, the basic concept is a profession definition, and in the c-commcrce domain the basic concept is a shopping item. These basic concepts have additional attributes such as price, location etc., and are separated by specific delimiters. The two systems were implemented in four implementations, each of them showing that the agent approach is useful.
