According to composition and characteristics of raw material cobalt hydroxide and through drawing E-pH diagram the pre-treatment technology and its optimization control conditions for solution of cobalt sulfate before extraction are determined. The technology is hot water washing with agitation―reduction dissolution―oxidation removal of arsenion aresenic. The results show that removing arsenic in the form of iron arsenate by adding sodium hypochlorite and iron salt has better effect on removing arsenic and direct recovery of cobalt. Direct recovery of cobalt reaches 94~98% from raw material to solution, and As and Fe of solution drop to less than 40 mg/L before extraction under optimization conditions, The produced powder is of excellent quality. It shows that the pre-treatment technology before extraction and its control condition are reasonable and efficient for organizing industrial production.
