POWERGRID'S EXPERIENCE - CONDITION BASED MAINTENANCE TECHNIQUES FOR EHV CLASS CIRCUIT BREAKERS

Modem Condition Based Maintenance Techniques are designed to continuously track the functional parameters and predict component deterioration before a mal-operation occurs and thus avoid major equipment breakdown/failure. All such measurements on CB have to be compared with the manufacturer's specifications or results from commissioning tests before a decision is taken whether the specific CB needs maintenance or not. In this paper, POWERGRID's experience on Overhauling and major Inspection of Circuit Breakers is discussed. The decision for Overhauling was taken based on the Test Results of Condition Monitoring checks.
