Conventional vacuum cleaners are known to allow passage of harmful dust through its filtration system. Nowadays, consumers are aware of the indoor air quality and the demand for high-efficiency vacuum cleaner increases substantially. Many designs and models of high-efficiency vacuum cleaners are marketed today by different manufacturers. The filtration efficiency of these vacuum cleaners is one of several important claims of vacuum cleaning performance. In order to evaluate the filtration efficiency of the filter and the filtration system of various types of vacuum cleaners, LMS Technologies, Inc. has developed a special testing method. The presentation will explain the special testing method that includes test preparation, test setup, test procedure, particle sampling, and filtration efficiency calculation. Also, the test results of a few selected high-efficiency vacuum cleaners will be presented.
