Green concrete as a contribution to the improvement of healthy environment is becoming increasingly important in the development of sustainable concrete application. Replacement of a part of cement by hydraulic additions (slag, fly ash, silica fume etc.) to reduce the cement consumption, due to which industries release large quantities of CO_2, is one of the ways to do it. The question is how these additions, especially slag, influence frost and de-icing salt resistance of concrete. Since we have been using such cements (with the addition of approx. 15 to 25 % slag) for many years now in Croatia, we have some experience and test results. It seems to us that the influence is not so negative as in the already reported high dosages of slag. The tests about it are in progress.
