From Virtual Manufacturing to Manufacturing Informatization Ontology

The paper studies the living environment of 21st century manufacturing and the trend of manufacturing informatization. The research idea and features of virtual manufacturing are generalized. The five stages of product feature modeling and three main information modeling method are reviewed. Manufacturing informatization ontology as a new concept is introduced. The classfication and meronymy relations are studied, while the evaluation criteria of ontology are summarized. It is pointed out that manufacturing informatization ontology is an efficient approach of developing sustainable manufacturing informatization.
